 Bungie announced a new title for both Mac and PC to be released early next year. The 3D action game, Halo, boasts unbelievably high quality graphics. Bungie showed a gameplay sequence featuring human characters fighting an alien species. They emphasized the game to be a cooperative mutiplayer.
When we met with Bungie privately, they showed us the sequence from the keynote again. But, after the pre-programmed action finished, they took us on a walk-though tour of the world that they have created thus far.
Halo is actually the name of the world where a war between humans and aliens takes place. The war between the aliens and the humans is centered around an advanced, ancient technology that was made by a previous race who once inhabited the ring-shaped world.
So far, many game details seem to have already been worked out. Empty shells from your gun's fire will leave perminate debris. If you sack a fortress, and come back a couple of weeks later, the fortress may still be burning, though more heavily defended, or neighboring areas may choose to strengthen their defenses.
Halo also allows players to use of combat vehicles. Aliens mostly use flying crafts, while humans will stay closer to the ground in land rovers.
