Blizzard was on-hand at the show as usual, although many people may not realize that this was the biggest booth that Blizzard has shown in years at a Macworld. Brian Love and Tony Gervase were on-hand at the booth answering questions and showing Starcraft: Brood Wars on a few iMacs.

When asked as to the current status of Diablo 2 for the Mac, Love commented only that the PC version will be out late this year (possibly in January) and that the Mac version will follow a few months later. The Mac version is a certainty, however, as the contract has been signed with the porting house.

Love also commented on the status of Warcraft: Platinum. While the PC version adds numerous fixes (including Windows 95/98 support), the Mac version seems to be more of a maintenance release. The new version will provide compatibility with Battle.net, Blizzard's internet gaming hub, include all packages that were previously bundled in the Battle Chest, as well as fix the lightning-fast scrolling on all PowerMac G3's, PowerBook G3's, iMacs, and iBooks.

Love also added that the G3 speed fix will also be available for previous Warcraft owners as a patch download from Blizzard's web site, but that the Platinum Edition will retail for only $19.95, rendering a flat-out purchase somewhat more attractive for the extra bang.
